Carotid Ultrasound (Carotid Doppler)
Checks blood flow in the carotid arteries of the neck to identify blockages that could lead to stroke.
Venous Doppler Ultrasound
Evaluates veins in the arms or legs for blood clots (DVT) or swelling causes.
Arterial Doppler Ultrasound
Examines arteries in the arms or legs for narrowing or blockages that reduce circulation.
Ankle-Brachial Index (ABI) Studies
Compares blood pressure in the arms and ankles to detect peripheral artery disease (PAD).
What to Expect:
- No special preparation is needed for most exams.
- You’ll lie comfortably while a warm gel is applied to the skin.
- A handheld device (transducer) is moved over the area to check blood flow.
- The test is painless, non-invasive, and usually takes 30–45 minutes (ABI about 15–20 minutes).
- You can return to normal activities right after.
